Know someone who would be the perfect judge?
There are many judicial vacancies in California (for more information, click here). LAAC encourages legal services attorneys to consider becoming judges and encourage your friends and pro bono colleagues to become judges. LAAC plans to keep an updated list of judicial vacancies for those interested in applying for appointments
SB 163
- The 2011 bill authorized the State Bar of California to assess 2012 attorney dues, and it increased the "opt-out" box on the State Bar dues invoice to member attorneys from $10 to $20. In 2011, the opt-out brought in over $1.6 million. LAAC hopes that with similar rates of attorneys not opting out, the legal services community might see as much as $3 million raised for legal services.
- The bill also called for the transfer of $2 million annually from the State Bar non-mandatory dues (reserves) in both 2012 and 2013 - The State Bar generously supported this allocation.
