Please mark your calendars for Saturday, May 3, 2008 and plan to attend the Twelfth Annual Statewide Ethics Symposium, which will be held at the University of San Francisco's School of Law. USF is centrally located in San Francisco on Fulton Street between Schrader and Cole, and is approximately 25 minutes from SFO and 35 minutes from Oakland International Airport by taxi. A complimentary shuttle will also be offered from a central location near a downtown BART station.

As you know the Symposium provides advanced programs for attorneys in all practice areas interested in cutting-edge ethics issues. This year's thems is NOTORIETY -- When the Spotlight Is on Ethics.

The Symposium will begin with welcoming remarks from State Bar of California President Jeffrey Bleich. A special keynote address delivered by Erwin Chemerinsky, Professor of Law, Duke University and founding dean of UC Irvine's Donald Bren School of Law will be featured following the lunch break.

Of course, the balance of the day will be filled with lively panel presentations. The topics include: ethical obligations of public lawyers; inadvertent disclosure of confidential communications; ethics issues in class action and derivative litigation; prosecutorial misconduct; and, an update on the work of the Commission for the Revision of the Rules of Professional Conduct.
