FREE online training series!

Summer is right around the corner, and with it hopefully a wonderful batch of summer law students at your organization. The Legal Aid Association of California (LAAC) and the Public Interest Clearinghouse (PIC) are pleased to announce a FREE training series for your summer law clerks! The trainings take place over lunch using conference call and web-based meetings – no travel, no cost – just great training. In addition, the Public Interest Clearinghouse (PIC) is coordinating a wonderful service learning component for summer law clerks – a trip to a rural court to do direct services in guardianship cases.

How Does It Work

The Summer Series will be like other LAAC Armchair Trainings. These trainings are FREE, short, live, interactive programs that you listen to over your phone and view online. There is a question and answer period during the last 10 minutes of each program. Registrants receive emails before the training with the link to the materials, the conference call number, and simple, easy-to-follow instructions on how to join the online meeting. LAAC and PIC staff will assist with logging into the online meeting as needed

June 16: Filing and Enforcing Restraining Orders
June 23: Eviction Defense 101
June 30: Social Security Defense 101 (SSI & SSDI)
July 7: Public Interest Litigation
July 14: Pursuing a Public Interest Career and Equal Justice Works Fellowships
July 21: Skadden Fellowship Presentation

If you would like to register multiple students at once, please email a list of their names, email addresses, law schools, and session selections to SummerTraining@pic.org. Registration closes May 30.
