Affirmative Litigation, offered in person in Seattle from July 22nd - 25th begins with two weeks of prior online preparation in which participants work from a case study to construct a federal class action lawsuit, while learning the essentials of Sec.1983 litigation and other common legal services affirmative claims and the justiciability issues associated with them. Participants draft a federal complaint, argue a motion to dismiss, plan and
develop discovery while learning the basics of claims and causes of action, state action, standing and mootness, exhaustion and preclusion, and sovereign immunity, and getting advice on motion practice and court relations from a federal court judge and clerk.
