This seminar is designed for attorneys representing immigrant victims of domestic abuse and other crimes in adjustment of status and removal proceedings cases. We will cover: Common grounds of inadmissibility including entries without inspection, unlawful presence, false claims to U.S. citizenship, misrepresentation, the permanent bar, crimes involving moral turpitude and public charge, as well as the specific inadmissibility waivers available to VAWA self-petitioners and U nonimmigrant status holders Removal issues including VAWA cancellation of removal available to abused immigrants in removal proceedings, VAWA-specific motion to reopen provisions, reinstatement of removal, expedited removals vs. regular removals Instructors:Nora Privitera, ILRC Special Projects Attorney & Lead Staff Attorney for ILRC’s Attorney of the Day (AOD) Consultation Service.
