Following the morning Elder Law Overview program (see separate announcement), Senior Legal Hotline will present at least two more specialized training programs in the afternoon.
One will focus foreclosures and older clients: an overview of the crisis, how many seniors are particularly affected and what can be done to help save homes, from effective counsel and advice to negotiating with loan servicers to considering cases for litigation. It will also cover the innovative use of reverse mortgages in certain situations.
The program will be geared especially toward new volunteers at the hotline who want to specialize in this area, but other legal services advocates will benefit as well -- and as we all know, the current need is huge.
