Vulnerable Populations and Economic Realities:
An interdisciplinary approach to law teaching
Golden Gate University School of Law and the Society of American Law Teachers (SALT) are holding a two-day Poverty Law Conference in San Francisco on March 19-20, 2010 at the law school, located at 536 Mission Street. This event will bring together new data and theories from the social sciences, media, and legal education about our most vulnerable populations, with the perspectives of interdisciplinary academics, practitioners, and activists.
For registration and hotel information, see the SALT website: https://www.saltlaw.org/conferences/view/32
In addition to varied panel discussions, the program has exciting keynote speakers. On Friday, March 19, the keynote panelists will be Professors Paul Butler and Richard Delgado. California Newsreel will also host a reception Friday evening to preview "Turkey Creek," a documentary-in-progress about a Mississippi community recovering from Hurricane Katrina. The filmmakers will be there to discuss the film and answer questions.
On Saturday, March 20, Judge Thelton Henderson, Senior Judge, U.S, District Court, Northern District of California will introduce the keynote speaker, John Payton, President and Director-Counsel of the NAACP Legal Defense and Education Fund.
