Summer Series for Law Students: Immigration 101

Public Interest Clearinghouse (PIC) and Legal Aid Association of California (LAAC) are pleased to announce a FREE training series for students interested in public interest law. These online trainings will cover a variety of public interest topics in California.

The Summer Series offers live, interactive trainings during your lunch break. Each webinar includes a question and answer period following the substantive lecture. Registrants receive emails before each training with the link and easy-to-follow instructions on how to join the online meeting. PIC and LAAC staff can provide technical assistance as needed.

This webinar is the third session of the 2010 Summer Series brought to you by the Public Interest Clearinghouse (PIC) and the Legal Aid Associations of California (LAAC).

Presenter: Robert Uy, Asian Pacific Islander Legal Outreach

This training will provide a basic overview of pertinent immigration laws and procedures. Specific topics to cover may include, a brief overview of the governing agencies, different types of visas, removal proceedings, legal remedies for domestic violence survivors under Violence Against Women Act (VAWA), asylum, human trafficking, and specific ethical issues that arise.
