As part of the Legal Aid Society of San Mateo's Guardianship Project, this training is designed to assist pro bono attorneys who have a guardianship case and a minor who was not born in the U.S. obtain special immigration status. Minors who are under the jurisdcition of a probate court guardianship and are undocumented may be eligible for Special Immigrant Juvenile Status and if their application is approved they will be eligible for a green card and work authorization.
This overview will allow pro bono attorneys to provide this important immigraiton remedy for undocumented minors in a guardianship case.
