Position: • Pro Bono Director (Full Time)

Duties and Responsibilities: • Provide leadership in PLC's outreach to the legal community to build awareness about volunteer opportunities, coordinating with law firms, law schools, and staff.
• Develop and implement strategies for recruitment and retention of volunteer lawyers.
• Oversee PLC's internal systems and procedures supporting the involvement and utilization of volunteers, including statistical reporting of volunteer involvement.
• Communicate with, coordinate and orient new volunteer attorneys.
• Supervise Equal Justice Works AmeriCorps law fellows responsible for recruitment of volunteer law students.
• Oversee PLC's volunteer recognition efforts.
• Oversee the regular distribution to volunteers of list of cases needing legal services.
• Member of the PLC management team.
Qualifications: • Member of the California Bar or a registered legal services attorney under California Rule of Court 9.45 strongly preferred.
• Five years relevant experience preferred.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.
• Experience in public speaking.
• Ability to motivate volunteers and potential volunteers.
• Strong organizational and computer skills.
• Experience working with community groups a plus.
• Must have own transportation, a valid CA Driver's license and good driving record.
Program Description: The Public Law Center (PLC), Orange County's pro bono law firm, is committed to providing access to justice for low income residents. PLC's 23 staff members and 700+ volunteers provide free civil legal assistance in the areas of family law and domestic violence, housing, health care access, education, immigration, consumer rights, employment and individual rights.
