Part-time Spanish Speaking Attorney in Coachella, CA Available Immediately

Disability Rights Legal Center is hiring a part-time attorney based in Coachella. The attorney must speak Spanish. The position is immediately available.

Our work focuses on impact cases that create systemic change to eliminate discrimination. As a cross disability organization we address all types of disability issues including special education, mental health, physical disabilities and sensory disabilities. We mostly represent children and adults in matters against government entities including school districts, jails and juvenile halls, law enforcement agencies, city and county government. (We do not handle benefit cases or evictions.)

We also address co-occurring issues such as race and gender discrimination.

This attorney will be part of the DRLC's Inland Empire (IE) Program, which consists of a full time attorney, one administrative assistant and law clerks. Our Inland Empire Program is located on the campus of University of LaVerne College of Law in Ontario, CA though this attorney will be working out of a Coachella office. The DRLC Litigation and Education Advocacy Programs, including the IE Program, and is supervised by the Legal Director, and includes nine other attorneys, located on the campus of Loyola Law School in Los Angeles.


This position is funded for one year with a good likelihood of continued funding.

The available position is for someone with:
•Familiarity with special education and disability rights is a plus.

•0-5 years experience

•Spanish speaking required.

Salary depends on experience. Benefits include health, dental and vision insurance, life and long term disability insurance, 401K, AFLAC eligibility, three weeks of vacation, and twelve sick days per year. DRLC covers half of the costs for dependent health care benefits. DRLC also observes all Loyola Law School Los Angeles staff holidays, which typically include 14-17 days per year.

Parking or transportation allowance and state bar dues are paid for all attorneys. Legal training opportunities are provided.

Admission to California Bar (or awaiting admission if admitted in another jurisdiction), or temporary eligibility to practice law as a registered legal services attorney pursuant to Cal. Rule of Court 964 with the intention of taking the California Bar.
