Sally Kinoshita,
Immigrant Legal Resource Center

This training will provide some basic background information about immigration and provide details about who is eligible for the Violence Against Women Act and the U visa. The Violence Against Women Act allows abused immigrants to receive public benefits and eventually a green card if they are being abused by certain family members. The U visa is available to immigrant victims of certain crimes who have been helpful in the criminal investigation or prosecution.
