Presenter: Gerald McIntyre, National Senior Citizens Law Center
California's Cash Assistance Program for Immigrants (CAPI) was enacted to provide for aged and disabled immigrants who are not eligible for SSI because of the immigrant eligibility restrictions of the 1996 welfare law. The program is seriously underutilized and is not widely known in many immigrant communities. This training will review the basic eligibility requirements for CAPI and the immigrant eligibility requirements for SSI. A general knowledge of SSI eligibility is assumed.
