This session will provide a more in depth discussion of the benefit issues currently facing children, foster parents, and relative caregivers. Specific topics will be based on questions from the participants but will likely include: choosing the appropriate benefit program and custody arrangement; ensuring children who live with relatives receive the appropriate financial assistance; maximizing cash benefits; understanding the interplay between the different benefit programs; ensuring youth gain access to benefits and services as they transition out of foster care, particularly SSI; and implementation of Fostering Connections, a new federal law.

This session is approved for ONE hour MCLE self-study credit.
