Elders seeking legal advice are being misled about the advantages and the true costs of reverse mortgages, the dangers of boiler plate living trusts, and the potential for being scammed when they apply for VA Aid and Assistance benefits. Senior service providers need to educate and protect their senior clients from being financially abused. This presentation will focus on how reverse mortgages, living trust traps, and the activity of financial predators working the VA Aid and Assistance program impact seniors' financial independence and ability to qualify for Long-Term Care Medi-Cal.
