On November 16, 2005, the Assembly Judiciary Committee and the Judicial Council co-sponsored a legislative hearing entitled, "And Justice for All: Actions and Obstacles to Achieving Equal Access in California."
Following an introduction by Justice Laurie Zelon on how far the legal services community has come and what is on the horizon for the statewide civil justice community, several panels of experts addressed ways to increase legal services funding, pro bono, self-help assistance, and language access.
