This is a template letter in support of AB 159 that legal services programs can use to express their support for their bill to their local assembly member before the Assembly Floor vote (June 2007).
LAAC supports AB 159 (Jones)(additional judgeships). AB 159 will add an unspecified number of additional judgeships around the state and will improve access to the courts as part of a multi-year plan to ensure an adequate level of judgeships over three years. AB 159 is the second component of the court's multi-year plan, following on the successful passage and enactment into law of SB 56 (Dunn)(2006 session) that added the initial 50 judgeships around the state.
