Thursday, June 08, 2006
- Organization: LAAC
AB 2301 (Judiciary) was amended on June 7 to clarify how the State Bar would be required to implement the bill's authorization to collect voluntary contributions from the private bar to support legal services for low-income Californians. The amended bill would require the State Bar, in consultation with Chief Justice George, to create a task force of key stakeholders to examine the most effective way to implement a voluntary contribution system and to make recommendations to the Board of Governors for a process to take effect in the 2008 fiscal year.
The bill is scheduled to be heard by the Senate Judiciary Committee at 1:30 PM on Tuesday, June 13th.
