Monday, June 19, 2006

  • Organization: LAAC
LAAC Board members and staff mourn the loss of an amazing legal services attorney and dedicated LAAC Board Member, Patricia ("Patty") G. Price, who passed away on Thursday of last week after battling ovarian cancer for three years.

Patty was a tireless advocate on behalf of low-income and other disadvantaged Californians, whose illustrious career included working at Central California Legal Services, as the Director of the Public Interest Law Firm, and the Legal Director at Legal Assistance for Seniors.

On the LAAC Board, Patty was committed to constantly honing and improving LAAC's trainings for legal services staff, and to expanding LAAC's programming.

LAAC Board President, Gary Smith, Executive Director of Legal Services of Northern California, describes Patty as someone who exemplified "the finest qualities of a legal services advocate: dedication, commitment, wisdom, and above all compassion -- compassion for her clients, for her co-workers, and for her colleagues."

LAAC Board and staff extend their heartfelt condolences to Patty's partner, Teresa Friend, who is the Managing Attorney of the Homeless Advocacy Project, and their two daughters.
