LAAC is thrilled to welcome four new Directors and one returning Board member to its Board as a result of the 2007 Board Elections and Appointments process. LAAC's By-Laws require a balance of Directors who have been elected by member programs and Directors appointed by the Board.

  Sadly, Ana Maria Garcia, formerly of the Los Angeles Center on Law & Justice was elected to the LAAC Board in the 2007 process, but in the interim had accepted the position of Supervising Attorney for Self-Help at Neighborhood Legal Services, effective January 31, 2007. Jose Tello, Staff Attorney in the El Monte office of Neighborhood Legal Services already serves on the LAAC Board. However, Ms. Garcia has offered to serve instead on the 2007 Planning Committee for LAAC's Family Law Conference, done in collaboration with the AOC. The 2007 Family Law Conference will be held this fall in Los Angeles. LAAC staff are excited about this opportunity to work with Ms. Garcia and to draw upon her extensive family law expertise!
