Assemblymember Jones convenes Feb. 13th hearing on access to justice and legal services

Assemblymember Dave Jones will be convening a legislative hearing on Tuesday, February 13, on access to justice issues and the role of legal services in providing vital assistance to low-income and other underrepresented communities in California. Assemblymember Jones (Chair, Judiciary), is a long-standing supporter of the access to justice community, including both the Courts and the statewide legal services network.

Topics to be covered include:

  • the recommendations included in the Access to Justice Commissions soon-to-be-released Action Plan on "Achieving True Access to Justice in California";
  • the on-going and pressing need for additional funding for legal services;
  • the exciting development of the Access to Justice Pilot Projects in the Governor's proposed budget for the Judicial Branch;
  • LRAP issues for public interest attorneys;
  • ways to support the provision of pro bono assistance;
  • and others.
