AB 515 is a reintroduction of AB 815, which many of you supported in the last legislative session. It will provide protection for workers exposed to hazardous substances in the workplace that cause cancer, reproductive harm or other chronic health effects.

AB 514 will ban the use of the diacetyl flavoring in the workplace by 2010. This is an extremely dangerous substance used as a food flavoring and causes significant lung problems and can be fatal.

AB 515 will be heard on April 18 in the Assembly Labor & Employment Committee.

AB 514 successfully passed out of Assembly Labor & Employment, however, it was double referred and so is scheduled for an additional policy hearing April 10 in the Assembly Environmental Safety & Toxic Materials Committee.
