- Organization: Impact Fund
The Impact Fund awards grants to non-profits and private firms who seek to advance social justice in the areas of civil and human rights, environmental justice and poverty law. Grants are awarded for large and complex litigation, such as class actions where there has been a showing of financial necessity. We generally do not fund individual cases.
Grants are generally made to cover reasonable expenses, including deposition costs, expert fees and other out-of-pocket expenses. We do not fund general programs or staff salaries. The maximum grant to a grantee per year is $25,000, with $10,000 being the average size. Successful grantees who recover costs pay back the grant with interest.
The Impact Fund awards grants quarterly and to date has awarded over $4.3 million dollars. We review pre-application requests on an on-going basis. Please visit our website at www.impactfund.org for more information about our grants and application procedure. Applications are by request only. To initiate the process, send a short (1-2 pages) inquiry to Brad Seligman, bseligman@impactfund.org.
