Thanks to the support of many organizations and countless citizens, theCalifornia Legislature passed AB 399 (Feuer - Nursing Home Complaint Investigation Improvement Act of 2007) by a vote of 117-1. AB 399 now awaits the Governor's signature, and we need your assistance to ensure that this vital legislation becomes law.

AB 399, co-sponsored by Bet Tzedek Legal Services and CANHR, would require the Department of Public Health to complete nursing home complaint investigations in a timely manner and provide a written determination to the complainant.

Despite its universal support, we are very concerned that the Governor may veto the bill due to unfounded cost concerns raised by the Department of Public Health.

We need your help. Please write Governor Schwarzenegger as soon as possible and urge him to sign AB 399 into law. You can use the sample letter below, but it is best to use your own words. Mail or fax your letters to the Governor at:
