Sacramento, Calif. - Consumer Attorneys of California (CAOC) today announced the appointment of member attorney David Bigelow to replace member attorney David Rosen on the California Commission on Access to Justice.
"After years of dedicated and tireless service as the CAOC appointee, David Rosen has notified us of his intent to step down," said CAOC President Don Ernst. "After conferring with the CAOC Executive Committee, we felt there was no better candidate than David Bigelow to continue the work Mr. Rosen has done to ensure that our court system is fair and objective, and provides access to all Californians."
Mr. Rosen of Rose, Klein & Marias LLP, served the on the Commission for five years. His admirable efforts to improve access for those most in need will be missed. Rosen, a CAOC member since 1981, felt it time to bring "new blood" to the Commission.
Mr. Bigelow, a CAOC member since 1996, has practiced with the law firm of Girardi | Keese since 1995. His practice includes product safety, professional negligence, and mass tort claims.
"It is a great honor to have the opportunity to expand personal goals of developing access to the civil justice system in our state," noted Mr. Bigelow.
The California Commission on Access to Justice is a 24-member commission of lawyers and judges, as well as academic, business, labor, and community leaders, established to explore ways to improve access to civil justice for Californians living on low and moderate incomes.
The State Bar appoints 10 members to the commission and the remaining 14 members are appointed by other statewide entities, including one appointed by CAOC.
