§ AB 3050 (Judiciary): this bill would address the problem of scam artists posing as fraudulent legal services organizations and proposes a model pilot project of providing court interpreters in some types of civil matters.

§ AB 2448 (Feuer): this Judicial Council-sponsored legislative is intended to improve to procedures relating to applications for waivers of court filing fees and costs in civil cases and is a product of the Judicial Council's Fee Waiver Working Group, a stakeholder group made up of judges, court administrators, and legal services programs.

Additional New Judgeships:

§ SB 1150 (Corbett): would add an unspecified number of new trial court judgeships to the superior courts, pursuant to the allocation approved by the Judicial Council. Even with the 100 new judgeships authorized in the past 2 years, California continues to suffer from a shortage of more than 300 judgeships.

Court Facilities and Security: Public Access and Courthouse Safety

§ AB 1491 (Jones): extends the deadline for court facilities to transfer to from the counties to the state and is a placeholder for any process improvements that might facilitate additional transfers.
