The Domestic Violence Collaborative Pro Bono Project of San Mateo County SUMMER ASSOCIATE PROGRAM Training: May 27th 3:00-5:00 p.m. at the law offices of Cooley Godward Kronish, 5 Palo Alto Square, 3000 El Camino Real, Palo Alto **Thank You Reception to follow 5:00 - 6:00 p.m.** Provide your summer associates with an opportunity to gain courtroom experience, and help low-income domestic violence survivors get essential protective orders to escape the violence! -Project Description and Pro Bono Referral Process: Self-represented domestic violence survivors prepare and receive an ex parte Temporary Restraining Order through Bay Area Legal Aid's Domestic Violence Restraining Order Clinic. Pro bono attorneys receive a copy of all legal pleadings and supporting information approximately two weeks before their pre-scheduled hearing (every Wednesday at 2pm in Redwood City and 9am alternating Fridays in S. SF) from Legal Aid Society of San Mateo County (LASSM). CORA staff attorneys and mentors are available to answer questions and are available on the day of the hearing to answer any questions. Summer Associates become Court Certified under Cal Rules of Court Rule 9.42 (forms and rules available on CA State Bar website - Practical Training of Law Students) **not required for participation -Summer Associates are paired with supervising Associate or Partner -Hearing dates available starting late June - mid August (hearing dates available on a first come first serve basis, sign up available immediately) Registration Required!
