Subject: June 3 Community Dialogue on Report of Gov's Committee on Education Excellence
Friends,
On Tuesday, June 3, 2008, Secretary of Education David Long will host the first of several community dialogues on education reform, based on the findings of the Governor's Committee on Education Excellence (GCEE). This open forum will take place from 5:30pm-7:30pm at the Grand Theatre on the campus of Los Angeles Tech Trade College.
We invite you and your friends and colleagues to join Secretary Long, GCEE Chairman Ted Mitchell, and others for a Los Angeles public discussion forum aimed at answering questions about and providing further information on the Committee's report.
Secretary Long's invitation and a map are attached. The Secretary asks that you forward this information to your colleagues and networks in the region.
Additional community forums will take place elsewhere in the state in the weeks ahead. Other scheduled events include:
* June 16th at the University of San Diego's Kroc Institute of Peace &
Justice
* July 8th at the Sacramento City College Auditorium.
More information on those events will follow shortly, and additional events are still being scheduled.
Should you have any questions, please contact Cara DiBlasio, of the Secretary's Office, at (916) 323-0611 or cdiblasio@ose.ca.gov; or Linda Murchison at the GCEE office at (916) 445-3921 or lmurchison@ose.ca.gov; or go to the GCEE website at www.everychildprepared.org <http://www.everychildprepared.org/>
We hope to see you at one of these important public events.
Sincerely,
Stephen Blake
Executive Director, GCEE
