Economy Loses Jobs for Fifth Straight Month
The economy lost 49,000 nonfarm jobs in May, the fifth straight month of contraction in payrolls, according to the Labor Department. Analysts had expected a loss of 60,000 jobs. The unemployment rate jumped to 5.5 percent from 5 percent in April.
