- Organization: Lawyers' Committee for Civil Rights
Dear Friends:
The Lawyers' Committee is pleased to announce that we have hired Lateefah Simon as our new Executive Director. Many of you know Lateefah from her 11-year tenure as the Executive Director of the Center for Young Women's Development in San Francisco, or from her more recent position as head of reentry programs for District Attorney Kamala Harris, where she helped launch programs to provide formerly incarcerated young people with educational and employment opportunities.
Lateefah is a dynamic and nationally-recognized leader who has been at the forefront of the civil rights movement for many years, and we are excited that she will be bringing her talent and energy to the Lawyers' Committee. She has already begun working with our Board and staff to ensure a seamless transition and will officially start at LCCR in January 2009. We hope you'll join us in welcoming Lateefah at that time and at our annual MLK Luncheon on February 11, 2009.
